February 25, 2006, brought together volunteers comprised of Starbucks employees
and customers, Sedro-Woolley track team and coaches, Skagit Parks Foundation board members and Skagit
Parks and Recreation staff to build a portion of a
multi-use trail at Northern State Recreation Area.
The temperature was well below freezing so the piles of crushed rock
were like cement but our volunteers picked up tools and just
chiseled through the crust. Everybody stayed busy (and warm) by
filling wheel barrels, hauling rock to the trail, or grooming the
trail.
