Bridge building group ready to go.

January 28th, 2006, became another milestone date in community involvement. Volunteers comprised of Starbucks employees and customers, Skagit Parks Foundation board members and Skagit Parks and Recreation staff all gathered to build a puncheon (built on site) style bridge. It crosses a stream which was encountered building the new trail on our last project connecting  Sharpe Park and Montgomery-Duban Headlands Park. It will shore up existing trail and protect our valuable surface water that flows directly into Puget Sound .

Bob greeting the group at the park. Ranger Mike See cutting dead stand for the bridge rails. Joe hauling bridge rails. Brian Adams coordinated the bridge construction.
Tami and Joe drive the first bridge spike. The finished bridge ... Barbara showing her wet muddy feet ... real volunteer spirit!

Tami hauling her plank into the site.
