The final Starbucks Make Your Mark project was at the Skagit Valley playfields. The volunteer team was to prep all four softball fields for the “Dog days tournament”. At the last minute the tournament was canceled but the volunteer team was not discouraged. Thanks to Brain Murphy (Skagit Valley College base ball coach) and Jackson both summer employees for Skagit County Parks and Recreation the day was still a huge success.
Murphy and Jackson taught all of the volunteers just what it takes to prepare a baseball field for a game. After thorough instructions all present got to take a turn at each task. A lot was learned and we all walked away with a deep appreciation for all the hard work it takes to get a field ready. And once we completed the task we all took turns at bat.
