Art in the Parks

"Bringing the Arts and Parks together to enrich and benefit our community"

This rapidly developing project is forming a relationship between the Skagit Artists Together (SAT) and Skagit County Parks and Recreation to bring art into our county parks. This provides a unique venue for the artists to display their work and brings positive recognition to our parks.

The liaison committee is comprised of representatives from Skagit Artists Together, Parks and Recreation and the Skagit Parks Foundation. Last May we toured three parks forming the strategy for our first project.

Mike See talks to us at HMSP. Lou Petersen talks to us too. Bob Vaux gives us a tour around HMSP We look at an area at the Playfields.

Park Bench Project

This will be a call to the artists that belong to SAT to create park benches. The final selections have been made. Shell Oil Refinery is the generous sponsor this year contributing 50% of the artists stipend through the Skagit Parks Foundation. Thank you Shell! They will be on display for one full year as well as available for purchase through the artist.

Photos of the benches and artist contact information can be found here.
